For those in need of Re-Entry visas, Suan Phlu still issues Re-Entry visas on Saturday mornings from 8.30 until midday.

I went this morning - 23 April - I arrived by 8.10 am. Nobody was allowed into the building until 8.30 am. Once the door was opened by some miserable Immigration officer, chaos ensued!! There was a total lack of organisation, no English was spoken by the miserable man who kept shouting at people; nobody understood what he was trying to say or get us to do, until somebody was brave enough to translate. He wanted all of us to sit in rows and then present our applications row after row.

It was a complete joke and absolutely chaotic. No instructions of any kind in English; no numerical system as they used to do.

All you need is a completed form TM-8 plus one photograph. Also put your telephone number on the top; they made everybody do this.

No need for copies of anything else.

I got my re-entry visa in 40 minutes.

One other thing that has changed is that the entrance for re-entry visas has changed to the back of the building, instead of what used to be the main entrance. As you walk into the compound by the main gate, go straight to the back of the first building.

Good luck and keep your sense of humour when you go !!

I believe the E-mailing-in service is for stop-and stamp and can be used during weekdays. Saturday morning doesn't require emailing it in.

That is how I understand how it works, but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks - what does "stop and stamp" mean? Also it looked to me that the Suan Phlu office is only open on Saturdays, is that incorrect?

Cheers

stop and stamp is an express service for re-entry permits.

Thank you! By the way, am I right to assume that the re-entry permit will have an expiry date of the last date I am admitted to stay? I ask because the reason I want the re-entry is I will be going to Canada for a several month period in June and my 1 year O-A non imm visa expires in June. Currently I am admitted beyond that date - until Feb. 2013 (because I travelled out this February). So I guess the re-entry permit will state it expires Feb 2013 and I'm thinking I may do a border run now, before applying for the permit, to get a later date on it. Is my understanding correct?

Yes that is correct so if you have, as apparently you do, a valid multi entry O-A a new entry before it expires will allow you a new one year stay from date of new entry and once obtained your re-entry permit will have that date.
