Passport And Plane Travel In Thailand

Featured Replies

My daughter to a Thai mother is only 3 years old

I believe she does not need an Id card until she is 12

She has an Australian Passport. but I worry about letting this out of my site

They will be flying domestic from BKK to Udon for 6 day then returning

So the question is does she need to have her Australian passport on her to board a domestic plane with her mother

In our experience only birth certificate is required - but dates back a few years.

Your wifes ID card will be OK not certain about your daughter, you may have to have your passport. I have been to phuket from Bangkok a few times only ever had one incident that i have been ask for my passport, But you are suppose to carry your passport with you all the time in Thailand. You can only get a Thai Id card if you are 15. take her birth certificate and her blue book.

notarized copy of birth certificate works for me 4-5 times per year between bangkok-samui

Easiest way to find out is to ask the airlines: "What does a Thai mother have to show when she flies with a 3 year old since the 3 year old does not have any ID?" Do not complicate the question with any explanation about not wanting to give us the passport. Immaterial: your daughter is a Thai national (also).

Simple phone call to any airline should work or, if you have time, maybe go on line and ask via the CONTACT icon.

alternatively, use her Thai passport. Only costs 1000 baht to replace, and can be done in 3 days if it somehow manages to go missing.
