Hi, just wondering if anyone here might have a good lead on well-priced return fares from the US to Thailand? Chicago departure point, in particular, but open to anything cheap.

Compared to just a year ago, there are no good fares around. Prices are up across the board. I flew out 2 months ago and Cathay Pacific was the cheapest (from LAX).

China Airlines SFO-BKK round trip economy next week for about US$1240, booked from their Web site. How does that compare?

Fairly standard, but I'm looking at summer when fares tend to go up.

Best I've found for my situation is about USD 1,600 from Chicago on Continental.

Richard, you should be seeking out a reputable consolidator or discounter, in or around the greater Chicago area. I'm sure there are numerous contacts along this line.
