"Pheu Thai is confident for a victory in Bangkok," he said.

The campaign for the capital will be under the slogan, "Returning happiness and increasing convenience for Khrungthep residents", he said.

Maybe k. Yongyuth should read the HRW report first ?

What happened to their "injustice" campaign in which they whine about dead people. Or is that only for upcountry? Or is all the whining the UDD's (Jatuporn's) job?

Probably separation of PTP and UDD is in progress. Combined with 'Thaksin thinks, we do'. Throw in some of Robert A.'s newsflashes. End result: total confusion as to who stands for what and why. Only clear thing is PTP, UDD, k. Thaksin have been contradicting themselves and each other so many times that only true believers have no doubts.

Your questions indicate you are not one of them :)

"It was disclosed that 193 people have applied to be on Pheu Thai's party list to contest the next election. They include red-shirt leaders, veteran politicians and dignitaries such as columnist Nitipoom Naowarat and former police chief Seripisut Temiyavej."

contest the next election? so they are already planning to riot over the results?

Stunts will occur before the results if opinion polls to not trend in their favour.

Wonder if ex policeman Seripisut even knows he's on 'the pt party list'.

This guy was forced out of the force by samak under the guise of 'he's not polite to his men'. Samak of course always the miss manners of Thai politicics.

Why did samak get rid of him? Because Seripisut wouldn't toe samak / thaksin line and was well knowm to be clean.

Nothing says increased convenience like barricading streets with burning tires and launching grenades at the Skytrain

I wonder if they're next going to state that they predict to get a majority of seats in the South, particularly Narathiwat. Jatuporn should be sent there to run his "injustice" campaign about dead people.

Don't underestimate the stupidity of the rural poor, who on the whole, are Peua Thai supporters. The simple fact of the matter is that alot of the rural poor are not into democracy, fairness or even doing things in a logical manner or way that we can understand. You can put this down to lack of education, not having a view of things on a global scale or used to running their fiefdoms to their own rules and laws. You might even say they probably live on a different planet from the rest of us. Thus on this basis, its is very likely PT will get alot of seats.

Before I get shot down: I don't have any problem with poor people (I personally come from a poor background). I just don't understand how SOME rural Thai think. Not all are like this, but enough are to be persuaded to vote PT and make a difference. Maybe its a case of sticking to 2 fingers up at the government, establishment, police and the law, not hugely unlike the punk movement back in the '80s?
