Hotel Recommendations In Kachanaburi

Featured Replies

We're thinking of going to Kanchanaburi for the weekend, our friends want to go to Sai Yok Noi but I can't seem to find any suitable accomodation for my wife, my son & I,

Has anybody got any recent recommendations for hotels/guest houses etc for the Sai Yok Noi area?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

MD

p.s. I should add that we don't have a car so will need somewhere relatively easy to get to from the train station, and also fairly close to waterfall etc

There is nothing really in Sai Yok Noi. Am sure there are a few guest houses. But There is much more choice further up the road at Sai Yok Jai.

Personally I wouldnt consider going to this area without hiring a car.

I was there for 3 days last week, staying at Pung-Waan Resort. It's on the river, a few minutes from Sai Yok Noi. There is a big pool, and an adventure course.

It's the second time I've been there. I'd highly recommend it.

It would be fairly easy to get a Song Taow from the station to there.

I went to Kanchanaburi a couple of years ago and hired a Song Taow for a couple of days to see the sights.

Sounds positive! How much can we expect to pay for our rooms? There will be me, my wife & our son in 1 room, our 2 friends sharing another room.

That was my concern, that we'd end up paying silly tourist prices for every single journey we took.

In your experience, what can we expect to find at Sai Yok Yai just for saturday & Sunday?

We just paid about 1800 night per room + 600 per night for the extra bed (through Hotels2Thailand). We had two cabins joined by decking/balcony and quite separate from other rooms.

Regarding your post above, you will be able to hire a song taow for the day (or half or 2) to get to some of the local sights. You can most likely organise to get picked up from the station through the hotel.

whybother, was there many other resorts nearby? Wife & friends think B1,800 is too much for 1 night :(

Actually, the prices in mid-May are lower that what I paid. Looking on hotels2thailand.com, it has rooms at 1,400 (ex VAT).

There are quite a few other resorts around there, but I have no idea on their prices (or quality).

Best I can suggest is to look on www.hotels2thailand.com or www.agoda.com.

Kanchanaburi has bungalows build over rapids (not just the usual river bungalow) but i can't find where now, any help ?

Thanks.
