I would like to switch form AIS to TRUE for the Free Size iPhone package. Recently I heard TRUE has SMS problems. SMS from TRUE to TRUE work fine but from TRUE to AIS or DTAC are often delayed.

Can someone confirm this? The TRUE hotline never heard of this problem :-)

in most but not all SMS providers, receiving and delivering SMS and/or MMS are NOT instant ! this is the expectation from us as customers, and we get used to usually happening of 'no delay' delivery.

in a previous business continuity project in last May, we try to apply SMS for deploying 'instant message'. we found couple of HOURS of delay in some inter-provider connections. AIS, TRUE, DTAC restated their service level agreements on receiving and on delivering, lost message rate <1% and send-to-receive lag in some providers is within 24hrs.

oh . . . similar conditions on email delivery as well :- (

( similart situation in other telecom advanced countries as well, providers' advantage on service ambiguity )

I am on True, my girlfriend is on AIS. Under normal circumstances our sms messages go through immediately. On occasions there are delays, but that would be the exception, rather than the norm.

I guess it would be great if the OP could elaborate on the statement, "Recently I heard...". From whom? More than one person? How long are the delays?

In general, if everything is working fine and there have been no earth-shattering events, an SMS (not an MMS, or a concatenated SMS) should be delivered within 20 seconds.

SMS is not a guaranteed service, nor is email, and there are a lot of things that can go wrong: message not rally sent by handset, not really received by SMSSC, not relayed to SMSGW, not received by other SMSSC, SMS not sent to handset, or not received (handset turned off, no coverage).

In my limited personal experience SMSes TRUE<-->AIS get delivered in 5 sec.

Occasionally, from TRUE I have to re-send an SMS, but I put this down to an issue with my handset. I also have still not been able to figure out how to send MMSes from TRUE, even though I have tried every MMS APN setting available.

Switching to TRUE, provided you are in certain areas, would be good for possible 3G service.
