October 4, 200520 yr Assuming someone is already in Thailand via the 30 day stamp at the airport, and a reputable company wished to employ the person, is it at all anyway possible for the company to apply for a 1year Non Imm B visa - without the need of the person going to Penang, Singapore, Mars or wherever else?? Do the immigration laws and rules state that a Non Imm B Visa MUST be obtained outside Thailand and is unobtainable while in Thailand? Thanks in advance for your views and suggestions.
October 4, 200520 yr In fact, a visa can only be obtained outside of Thailand at one of the Royal Thai embassies/consulates or Honorary Consulates. The 30-day-stamp is a visa-exemption, to allow a tourist to visit Thailand without a visa. This stamp canno be changed. However, if somebody is in Thailand on a proper tourist visa, not the stamp, immigration will accept application to change the status of stay to meet non-imm B. Otherwise, it is a non-imm B or O that's needed to apply for extention of stay, as said visa can only be obtained outside of Thailand.
October 4, 200520 yr Do the immigration laws and rules state that a Non Imm B Visa MUST beobtained outside Thailand and is unobtainable while in Thailand? This was discussed recently in one of the threads pertaining to the current difficulties in obtaining a non-immigrant 'B' visa in Penang. Bottom line is that the visa class can be changed inside Thailand for any current visa holder (as Axel stated, not a thirty-day entry stamp), but the paperwork requirements that were posted for performing such a change would make me rather go to Mars to obtain a 'B' visa rather than play that paper chase!
