BAGHLAN, AFGHANISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- A joint Afghan-international security force operation in northern Afghanistan resulted in the death of eleven Taliban militants, officials said Tuesday.

The operation was carried out in the Ganda Chashma area between Doshi and Dehna Ghori districts in the northern province of Baghlan, police officer Col. Noor Gul told Pajhwok Afghan News, adding that during the operation, another 10 people, members of the Gujjar Tribe, went missing.

Among the killed militants was Taliban Commander Rahim Gul, Noor Gul said.

According to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the operation was conducted to clear a suspected Taliban safe haven in Ghor Chesma village, which is associated with facilitation activities and cache sites and is historically associated with the Taliban district chief in Doshi district.

The ISAF also said its troop members arrested a number of suspected insurgents for further questioning.
