LONDON (BNO NEWS) -- An estimated 72 million people from around the world logged on to The Royal Channel on video-sharing website YouTube to watch a live stream of the royal wedding last month, the company said on Saturday.

The wedding of Prince William and his girlfriend Kate Middleton could be viewed live on the Royal Household's official YouTube channel. It was also aired live on television stations, radio stations, and other internet websites from around the world.

According to YouTube, the royal wedding was live streamed more than 72 million times to people in 188 countries. Those who didn't see it live, considering it was still early in the morning in the United States and other parts of the world, were able to watch a recording later in the day on the same YouTube channel.

"When it was all said and done, the total streams on April 29, 2011 reached 101 million as romantics around the globe tuned in to watch the fairytale ceremony, the procession and the final balcony kiss," YouTube said in a blog post, adding that it experienced an additional 100,000 requests during the highly anticipated Royal kiss.

While there were scores of viewers from nearly every country in the world, live streams were highest in the United Kingdom, followed by the United States, Italy, Germany, and France.

The official website of the Royal Wedding (www.officialroyalwedding2011.org), which is hosted on Google App Engine, received approximately 37.7 million page views from 13.7 million visitors since its launch on March 2.

Nice to see one of the Sgt. Peppers uniforms got recycled. Some of those women's hats looked like a close-up of something growing on my abandoned toothbrush.

Ahh the fashion crtic arrived.
