thaicbr
How does this apply to my Symbian mobile phone? Not sure for symbian. I have android. but if you google 'BRUT' google maps then maybe you will find something.
lomatopo
Did anybody get this to work? The referenced installation instructions are contradictory. Any clarification on the steps would be appreciated. Haven't tried the "brut" edition yet.
thaicbr
yes. working on a zte blade. i just followed the instructions BUT instead of using root explorer i used es file explorer and just enabled that in the menu for root. then using es put the map file into the system apps. From looking at the XDA forum there can be a problem for Samsung Galaxy's but they sorted that. You need to check out xda. Ps also testing Quick Navigator as a GPS ADDRESS BOOK

lomatopo
I got this working. I'm embarrassed to say I installed it properly from the get-go; I just didn't know how to use it. Maps. Settings, Directions, Choose starting and ending points, (choose driving, walking, public transpo.)then click on the Navigation symbol. Works great. Thanks. FWIW, I have a paid version of Titanium Back-up. I used that to wipe data, and uninstall Street View and Google Maps. I downloaded maps5.4.0-ownhere-resign.apk to my PC then copied it to my internal root, then I used Astro File Manager to install it. Then I got Street View from the Market. Now it is working. Thanks again.
lomatopo
FWIW, the Text-to-Speech works also. Of course it didn't work so well while my audio was muted; took me a while figure that one out.
thaicbr
For the GPS address book i'm using 'location bookmark' and if i just want the gps co-ordinates i'm using 'geo pin' both working fine. Available for free from the market.
