2011-05-12 19:08:31 GMT+7 (ICT)

PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- Border clashes between Pakistani tribe members and Afghan armed forces resulted in the death of five people, officials said Thursday.

According to Pakistan's Express Tribune, local authorities said violent clashes broke out between members of the Afghan National Army and local tribesmen from the Lawa Mandi area of the Afghan-Pakistan border.

It is still uncertain why the clashes began, as local authorities are currently trying to control the situation. Among the fatal victims are two Afghan soldiers and three Pakistani tribesmen.

In late April, the Pakistani paramilitary Frontier Corps and Afghan troops exchanged heavy gunfire in the Angoor Adda area of the region, killing at least 13 people, including 12 Afghans and one Pakistani.
