2011-05-16 02:08:31 GMT+7 (ICT)

TATAOUINE, TUNISIA (BNO NEWS) -- Two suspected terrorists were arrested in the Tunisian southern town of Rémada, the state-run news agency TAP reported on Sunday.

The two men, one Algerian and the second Libyan, were arrested in Jebel Nakrif, 25 kilometers (15.53 miles) south of Rémada near the border with Algeria. One man threw a hand bomb that didn't explode during the arrest, while the second man was wearing an explosive belt.

According to sources, the terrorists were seeking to explode the explosive belt and the hand bomb amid border guards of Rémada.

A senior military source told TAP that the two terrorists had links with two young persons arrested on May 11 in Tataouine in possession of a grenade. All of them belong to a terrorist network that will be identified later.

This operation is considered the first of its kind in the country.
