SYDNEY (BNO NEWS) -- A five-year-old girl who was abducted on early Monday morning was found dead in a vehicle in eastern Australia on late Monday evening, police said on Tuesday. Three other people were also found dead.

The initial investigation began when the bodies of a man and a woman were located at around 8 a.m. local time in a residence in Robina, a suburb on the Gold Coast in Queensland. Police later issued a child abduction alert when a five-year-old girl, identified as Kayla Rogers, was found to be missing and believed to have been abducted by a 40-year-old man.

"A full-scale search was launched on both sides of the border [of Queensland and New South Wales] for the man and young girl - believed to be travelling in a silver-coloured 2006-model Holden Viva," a New South Wales police spokesperson said.

Hours later, at 9.30 p.m. local time on Monday, a tip-off from a member of the public led police from Richmond Local Area to a car in bushland near the Bruxner Highway near Casino, a town in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales. It lies on the banks of the Richmond River, about 726 kilometers (451 miles) from Sydney.

"With great sadness we advise that the New South Wales Police Force have located a vehicle with the deceased bodies of a 5-year-old girl and a man in a car just outside of Casino," Queensland police said. The body of the adult man is believed to be the 40-year-old suspect.

"A crime scene was established and continues to be examined by forensic officers today. A search of the surrounding area will also be undertaken by local police," a New South Wales police spokesperson said. "The bodies of the deceased will be taken to Brisbane for formal identification and post mortem examination. Richmond Local Area Command Detectives and State Crime Command's Homicide Squad are assisting their Queensland counterparts with their ongoing investigation."

It was not immediately clear how the four people died, if and how they were related, or what the motive was behind the killings.

I'm not going to speculate here but question why do adults in conflict harm innocent children.

RIP young Kayla, may your afterlife be more secure and happy than what you have just appeared to have gone through.
