SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA (BNO NEWS) -- A Royal Australian Air Force plane crashed at the East Sale airbase in Victoria, Australia, injuring two pilots, officials said Wednesday.

The accident occurred at around 3:15 p.m. local time when the PC-9/A aircraft's engine experienced some failure during a routine training flight, the Sydney Morning Herald reported, adding that the pilot and his student were able to eject safely before the aircraft crashed, around 1 kilometer from the airbase's runway.

The two injured crew members are currently in stable condition at a local hospital where they will stay overnight for further monitoring.
