Rainy Season Over? Some Lull?

Featured Replies

It hasn't really been raining much or at all for a few weeks now. Is the rainy season over? Some sort of lull?

Lull, it was early this year typically June until Oct.

Have no idea why this was posted in visa section or where you are so will more to Thailand Travel.

Over - Ha! it has not started yet. Wait for Aug and Sept. I want to know what happened to the hot dry season around here this year. The grass stayed green the whole season it normally gets crunchy and brown. I had to mow twice during a season I would never even think about it in the last ten years.

;)

Since I don't know exactly where you are in Thailand it's hard to answer.

The "rainy season" is different here in Bangkok from say the rainy season in Chiang Mai or in Phuket.

But anyhow here in Bangkok this is what could be called the "short rainy season". There will be a lull and then about September there will be the "long rainy season".

Of course, you must realise those months are just approximizations. The dates can easily vary up to 30 days one way or the other,so you can't be certain of the timing. But that's the general idea of the timing, it varies year to year.

Right now, as I type this a thunderstorm is coming again here in Bangkok. Probably sometime in June that will end and not start again until August or September. October should be rainy also, then it will end in November. November, December and January should be cooler. but relatively dry here in Bangkok.

The weather this year had gone hay wire. Look at the flooding on April. Don't be surprise the winter start early in the August this year!

Would be very helpful and easier for us to provide you info if you could mention about the area you are travelling.... The weather is not the same for different parts of Thailand. You might see rain in one province but will be very hot in another parts.....

But bear in mind not to worry about the flood that has been occurred as of now it has been cleared and tourists are coming back to those places. The rain these days do fall but will last only for just 1-2 hours but overall it has been quite wet in Southern part and Bangkok area....

Would be more specific in the area if you could again mention the places you wanted to travel......

The rainy season should be starting any day now in Chiang Mai. The last 3 months have been a fluke.
