Blast at southwestern China bus terminal kills 1

BEIJING (BNO NEWS) -- An explosion at a bus company in southwestern China on Saturday morning killed one person and injured two others, state-run media reported, two days after a rare suicide bombing in the country.

The blast happened at around 10 a.m. local time at a two-story bus terminal in Chengdu, the capital of the country's Sichuan province. It was not immediately clear if the terminal and adjacent office was also being used by passengers.

According to the state-run Xinhua news agency, a 51-year-old male was killed in the blast. Two other people, a 24-year-old and 32-year-old male, were injured. Some local media reports said the blast happened at a room on the second floor, and that medical staff described smelling gunpowder.

Although the cause of the blast was not immediately known, the blast comes only two days after a series of bomb blasts targeted government buildings in the southeastern city of Fuzhou City, killing the bomber and two others.
