Egg thrower at Pheu Thai campaign last night being hunted down

BANGKOK, 29 May 2011 (NNT)-Democrat Secretary General Mr. Suthep Tuagsuban said the suspect, who threw a rotten egg during the political campaign of Pheu Thai last night, had not been identified yet

Mr. Suthep said the Democrat was taking the lead in the first round of the political campaign, given its accomplishment over the global economic crisis. He further said that claims by Pheu Thai to have gained higher supports than the Democrat were just their marketing ploy.

The Secretary-General added that the Opposition was also good at creating situations in a bid to gain sympathy votes from the public. He has told his team to investigate and reveal the truth to the Thai people.

Mr. Suthep denied knowing who the egg thrower was during Pheu Thai political campaign at Suan Lumphini yesterday but had instructed related officials to track down the suspect.

Meanwhile, he cited that there was no need for the Democrat to adopt a new strategy to boost its political campaign. Moreover, he said the upcoming election would give Thais the opportunity to reconcile their differences and to prevent political violence to happen like last year.

The BIB will get into investigating this with the same gusto they had for hunting down the two young ladies who bared their boobies...

Throwing eggs at a rally or young ladies baring their boobies will get the BIB using all their resources to track down these sorts of criminals and bring them to book, while the real criminals (the robbers, murderer's and 75 "known" hitmen) walk around without a care in the world...

Kinda shows how <snip> up the priorities are....:whistling:

Pheu Thai political campaign targetted with rotten eggs

BANGKOK, 29 MAY 2011 (NNT) - Two rotten eggs were thrown at Pheu Thai speakers on stage during the party's first party list candidate, Ms.Yingluck Shinawatra’s speech.

Reports suggested that during Ms. Yingluck's first political campaign speech in Bangkok, two rotten egg were thrown from a bridge onto the stage. However, the egg did not hit any of the speakers.

In front of the King Rama VI Monument at Lumphini Park, Pheu Thai Party policy speeches were addressed to the public. Several included inflation prevention and low income issues which would be responded by strategic marketing. Mega project investments will provide more jobs, more cashflow and purchasing power, said Ms. Yingluck. In addition, Pheu Thai suggested that in the past, predecessor Thai Rak Thai Party had provided 3 million jobs per year, but after the lost of influence and political power, half of the number had declined.

Ms. Yingluck also added that despite the major setbacks for her brother and the party, unity and good relations could still be achieved among members of the public. She claimed femininity was not an issue and real strength came from within, citing that drugs and corruption would be the party’s top priority.

It was also reported that before Ms. Yingluck’s appearance on stage. The audience was prompt for an active reception, however a group of listeners on a bridge nearby threw two rotten eggs down the stage that missed Ms. Yingluck but landed on the press tent. Later, police forces were dispatched to the bridge to guard any further mishaps.

Who decided that the egg was rotten? Is it just a supposition that nobody in their right mind (if you can find somebody that might fit that description) would, given the exorbitant price of eggs, not throw a perfectly good fresh one? Has Dr. Pornthip been given access to the evidence? More poor and probably inaccurate reporting. B)

Given the standard of journalism in Thailand, who is to say that the press tent wasn't the intended target.

OK... OK! let's see if I got this right! Someone threw two eggs onto the stage.

<<Reports suggested that during Ms. Yingluck's first political campaign speech in Bangkok, two rotten egg were thrown from a bridge onto the stage. <<However, the egg did not hit any of the speakers.

Now just how can this happen? Out of curiosity I was there the other day and took some pictures. One is a side photo showing the stage in the park with the traffic bridge behind it. The other shows the stage from the front. Notice the bridge is behind it. There are not any other bridges even close enough. And they would need to throw the eggs how far? 200-300 meters? Plus pass throught the opening in the back of the stage. Pretty dam_n good shot! Ever try to throw a egg? Even a rotten one? Not easy.

I don't think so. They came from somewhere else if they were thrown at all. There were BiB everywhere especially behind the stage and between the bridge for all the dignitaries. Security was high. Plus a few of the mysterious "men in black" running around too.

Suthep, when interviewed later, said that photos allegedly showing a group of listeners on the bridge were taken the day before the incident, you could tell by the cloud formation in the background.

Caretaker PM Abhisit added that forensics had proved that at least one of the eggs was thrown from ground level.

Furthermore Ms. Thida said Robert A. had said these two eggs could be seen as political persecution during an election period.

Senior Pheu Thai Party member Chalerm Yoobamrung said two days ago that if Pheu Thai wins, it will not exact revenge against all parties, except Abhisit and Suthep Thaugsuban who he believed were responsible for the deaths of 92 people in April and May last year. Had he known eggs would be thrown yesterday he would have included that atrocity in his remarks.

What city did this occur? Bangkok or where?

<<Mr. Suthep denied knowing who the egg thrower was during Pheu Thai political campaign at Suan Lumphini yesterday but had instructed related <<officials to track down the suspect.

Yep that's where I was. No way!! unless they had catapults. Ummh.... could have been a sling shot now that I think about it. But the did not allow people on the traffic bridge either. So I still don't think it was possible.

I don't think he had anything to do with it. Served no purpose.

The political rally of Phua Thai was at the Rama Six equestrian statue just outside of Lumpini park and opposite to Silom Road. Given that so many businesses were affected in that area last year from the red shirts I imagine that they're not very popular around there.
