A 2009 study found that the average Australian walks about 900 miles a year.

Another study found that the average Australian drinks 22 gallons of beer a year.

That means the average Australian gets about 41 miles per gallon.

Not bad economy really.

I recall reading a book by a guy who hitchhiked his way around Australia and he said when he got to northern Queensland and asked how far to the next town, the driver would say, "oh about 2 sixpacks of beer" :D
