You miss the point, I was attacked, I tried to stop my bike so that my son could get away, the dogs got under my front wheel and knocked me off my bike - The only reason I wasn't bitten is that I kicked the shit out of any dog that came near - once my son was clear - I got the hell out of dodge city - a few foul mouth responses to the locals - they got the picture I was not a happy chappy! Are you serious? You actually think you could somehow how come out ahead in a war with your neighbors? Or that even if you could, you'd want to go through one?

Once upon a time, part of my job was teaching people to fight wars. I know a bit about defense of personnel and territory. Moreover I certainly would never hesitate to do ANYTHING necessary to protect my family. But I would never take the idea of starting something violent with Thais lightly....because there's simply no telling how far it will escalate (but not only can relatively minor stufft escalate to some very serious nastiness, it can escalate all the way to lethal levels; assuming you can survive that, think about what it might take -- what you might have to do -- to do so).

EDIT to ADD:

I base my view on the fact that in the last 3 decades I've been in situations in Thailand that have come rather close to lethal levels (and wound up with some scars and other now healed injuries).

I'm still here -- partly because of managing to do certain things on my own but largely due to some luck and intervention by the right folks -- but I've known some people who didn't survive.

Good point,the way i see it is the owners of the dogs have done nothing to stop this situation,so if he tries to kill them i suspect he will vanish too.

I had a friend who was warned about letting his rottweiler out,he continued and the dog vanished,never to be seen again.

Hello Willeyeam, i understand your concern and you surely have some valid points to take action, however you might want to try a different strategy first.

I am living in a village too and at one point i had a similar problem with a couple of dogs of one particular neighbour, everytime i would ride on the road fronting his property, they would run toward me very aggressively, i decided to buy them some of the crap food they sell on the gazyllion street's carts on the way back, as soon as i started feeding them their attitude radically changed, the first day they still showed some diffidence, however, it changed very quickly, now every time they see me, they still run toward me, however you can tell the difference as they know i am a friend.

Now, i am not a dog's expert by any means, i just talk from experience and what it worked out for me, might not works for you, but i think it's still worth a try.

I also noticed a thai guy (one of the many farmers working on the fields around here), that everytime he ride his motocy nearby, some of the dogs kind of remember him and run against him like if they have seen the devil, this guy usually throw stones against them or uses wooden sticks, so i guess the dogs see him as a real enemy and is amazing how they can recognize him from distance.

The owners of these dogs, would just keep doing what they are doing like if nothing is happening, sometime they just stare at the situation but rarely would do a thing, the same happen with their offsprings doing damages around, they would just turn their head the other way around or stare at them like if they are experiencing the "Nirvana", however, as soon you will "wake them up", they will either grab their little tornadoes and run away in fear you will try to ask them to pay for the damages they caused, but if they don't hide, chances are they will try to blame you for any possible problem, even making up things not even someone high on A Class drugs would possibly think of....beware of them!

Another thing i have seen with my own eyes, is small kids possibly between 7 and 11 y.o. i think, picking up food from the floor of the soi and eating it! So be very carefull there as things could take a turn in a really nasty way....

Go on the dangerous spot by yourself with some crap food, try to feed them without showing a bad attitude toward them (like throwing the food against them as a stone to hurt them...), see if that works, if not, try to find out what are you getting into from a legal point of view, as some of the local laws are just crazy here...

Most of the times dogs would just barks without biteing, if however i had no way out from a dog which is biteing me, i would have no remorse in giving him or his owner what the situation is requiring, luckily the totality of the situations i ended up with, didn't require any extreme action being taken, good luck.
