Checking The Documents

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm thinking about buying a Kawasaki GTO 125. I

found an offer online. As I've never bought a second hand bike before

I'd like to know what to pay attention too. I'm already reading on in

after a google search but I'd like to know you opinion. Especially when

it comes to documents here in Thailand - how to make sure everything is

in order, the bike has not been stolen, I can register it etc? I'm a bit

suspicious as the bike is very

cheap:

http://bangkok.craigslist.co.th/mcy/2407089578.html

Another

thing - I don't have a driving license for motorbikes - will I be able

to register it?

thanx in advance,

Maciek
I think the simplest way to check all the docs are is to drag the bike to the transport department- when they change the book to your name, it should be ok... If not in bangkok, slip one of the guys there a red note and they can check it all for you! NEVER trust the seller 100 percent... Good luck...

yepp, bring bike, book and seller to DLT, Department of land Transportation. They will check bikes ID before accepting transfer to you. Do not trust a garage to do this check

you need two docs to register in your name.

Passport including valid permit to stay

certificate of residence, from Immigration or your embassy

Or check that the engine and chassis ID is the same as in the green book.

Thanx for all the info!

As for the bike - well, I cant really afford anything else right now, thought it would be good for starters.

best!
