Best Airfare From Australia(Brisbane) & Return To Bkk?

Featured Replies

This should probably be in the Travel section, but I'm hoping for more exposure here in "General"

I need a ticket from Australia ( Brisbane ) to Bangkok, and because it's a little cheaper, possibly a return ticket. I have used Air Asia but don't like stopping in Kuala Lumpur because it's a crumby Budget terminal, but mostly dislike it because it means 2 unnecessary stamps in my passport.....I HAVE to "enter" Malaysia and then "leave" through Immigration.

Royal Brunei used to be a good price, and I flew with them a couple of times, but these days they're not cheap.....so I'm just wondering....what are the other options ?

I tried Googling "cheap tickets BNE BKK", but keep getting all sorts of dead ends and time-wasting websites.

Depends when you want to go but you could try other options such as Virgin or Strategic into Phuket then just jump on a cheap AA flight up to BKK.

You can get some cheap flights but sometimes you have to go via sydney and that can be a pain as well.

Another option is that Malaysia Airlines had some cheap flights to KL a while back. You could always fly with them to KL then the cheap option of AA to BKK.

Try to google International Airlines Brisbane, or something like that, get a list of airlines that fly out of Brisvegas and go to each website to check.

Or, what I sometimes do is pop in to Flight Centre and find out what deals they have and then go to Escape Travel and get their quotes then go back to Flight Centre as they guarantee a lowest fare and will beat it.

Malaysian Airlines

Singapore Airlines

Royal Brunei Airlines

Virgin Airlines (V Australia)

Jetstar Airlines

Lastminute.com would be another way to search.

By the way, where in Bris do you live?

Good luck, I'm jealous. :D

didn't say when or for how long . . . skyscanner.net can be useful as searches numerous airlines, eg this search brought up a result of 23k baht return with Royal Brunei; you can search across whole months to see which days are cheapest to fly on.

Happy travels

Thanks, gents....I hadn't thought about those options. In fact, I'd never HEARD of Strategic Airlines. They apparently fly to Phuket for $300, but only for about 3 days in (for example) the month of July.

I'll get searching.

I live in the Western suburbs of Brisbane, Wallaby....when I'm there. Currently I'm in Bangkok, and have my fare home but have not bought the return ticket yet. And you ?

Try using expedia. At the moment if you want to go in June flight centre has for $860. I hate flightcentre with a passion so please try match that price and use expedia on the phone. good luck. Mia

Try and book your flight on a Westpac GOLD Card or a Platinum Card. The Gold Card gives you 3 months free medical and the Platinum 6 months free medical, both world wide and for everyone in the family. This only works if you are booking out of Australia return, not from Thailand return. Other Cards have the same deal I suppose. I know American Express DONT.

Check your card out on the internet, in the travel insurance section.

Save yourself a lot of cash on hospital bills. If your card has this benefit you dont have to pay for Medical insurance before leaving Australia, which saves you more cash.

I flew to Brisbane from Bangkok return 2 years ago with Thai - only 32,000 return. Is it really worth the hassle to save a few baht to fly with the cheap ones?

The average airfare from OZ to B/Kok return at the moment is around $800. So yes it pays to shop around.

Yes.....Royal Brunei is one of the cheaper ones and the service is great. No complaints at all......but it's a 4-hour stopover in Brunei. Nice transit lounge though.

Yeah I don't mind Brunei, they don't have alcohol on board but turn a blind eye to you opening your duty free beer or wine as a long as you don't go getting legless and trying to grope the hosties whilst shouting out that Allah is a knob. :D

Ozemade has a good point, I do book with Westpac Platinum for the free insurance.

Latin, I live in the outer northern suburbs, Strathpine.
