Ive decided to revert back to buying my yearly air ticket back to the UK as i think the initial extra expense will be soon paid back due to the vast difference in prices for tickets bought here and those bought in the UK, so i am looking for an as cheap as possible one way flight back to the UK travelling mid July

So far the cheapest i can find is with Egypt Air, who are marginally cheaper than Air India at 16150b although for anyone interested you can fly Sri Lankan this month for a very reasonable 12595b.

Has anyone recently flown with Egypt Air? and how was it?

I haven't flown on Egypt Air recently, but did make a r/t flight, Bkk to Cairo, on them back in July 2010 and thought they were ok. Would fly them again.

Thanks for the reassurances that i was hoping for guys...It has actually worked out OK price wise to book a return flight with Egypt Air (£541 all in) for travel out mid July and back at the end of August, which is what i have now booked,

Flew the Bkk/Cai sector with EgyptAir a couple of days back. I work in Cairo so can't comment on the Cairo transfer or Cai/Lhr sector.

Have used them a fair bit over the years but the main improvement recently was the introduction of new 777's on this route. They now have individual TV screens and video on demand - and a decent size as well. Limited programming content but good enough to pass the time. Food wise, no real improvement, and drinks still limited to softies.

The big advantage recently has been the lower passenger loads - presumably still some concerns about flying into Cairo. Just means that you can almost guarantee a bank of three seats available in the back - the check-in girl at Bkk blocked a couple of seats for me, worked just fine.

Terminal 3 at Cairo, used by EgytptAir, is new and hassle free.

With their joining the Star Alliance a year or two back they have had to up their performance, and it shows.

For the price, no complaints at all.
