Firstly, please move to another sub-forum if this is in the wrong place.

My story is complicated..

I have one son, aged 10, another son, aged three, and a baby daughter. I am not married to their mum. I remember the UK relaxing a law about marriage before birth. Do we HAVE to get married to get passports for the kids?

Another snag is the fact that I did marry a Thai many (12+) years ago and haven't seen or been able to contact her for at least ten years. On the documents, my name was spelt wrong. That could almost mean it wasn't me.

In an ideal world, I'd like to keep things as they are and get teh kids passports. Marrying my partner is not the end of the world, but would involve either lots of mucking around or being a bit naughty.

Not sure about the 10 year old, but the other kids can certainly get a British passport. Many people are in the situation that they are not married to the mother and have a British passport for their kids.

The embassy webiste has more information.

Note that you are not the father under Thai law. You can become the legal fahter of the 10 year old very easily. Just go to the local amphur with mother and child and all 3 of you state you are the fahter. The other two children need legitimization through the courts, that is a longer way but also not difficult if the mother agrees.
