June 14, 201115 yr Interesting application. Limousine Wi-Fi service offered by InterContinental Bangkok and Holiday Inn Bangkok Monday, 13 June 2011 We’re all aware that when travelling abroad it’s sometimes not possible or practical to rely on a mobile carrier’s roaming service for internet. Often, while in transit to and from the hotel, we just have to wait. From 7 June 2011, guests of InterContinental Bangkok and Holiday Inn Bangkok will wait no longer – all thanks to the hotels’ new Limousine Wi-Fi service. When using a limousine for airport transfer (arriving or departing) as well as for city tours, guests will remain well connected during the entire trip and be able to surf, work and e-mail. Limousines are a smart choice for journeys. Now they’re even smarter with this latest service, from the hotels who were the very first to offer free wi-fi service in Thailand. Indeed, all hotel guests enjoy complimentary wi-fi in public areas including lobbies, at Club InterContinental, Holiday Inn’s Executive Club, Concierge and in restaurants; iPad access likewise is available in both hotels’ lobbies. So, whether travelling for business or pleasure – and now even while they are on the go – guests can always feel free to connect to the world. Limousine Wi-Fi service is provided by TOT 3G and offers a maximum speed of 7.2 Mbps. Coverage encompasses metropolitan Bangkok and some surrounding suburbs. The service is accessible via any wi-fi enabled device. At InterContinental Bangkok and Holiday Inn Bangkok, not only do guests receive renowned Thai hospitality and a memorable “In The Know” experience, they’re now sure to be in touch at every turn.

Yes. I would guess that whoever wrote the press release didn't realize it. I wonder how long they will remember to bring the mifi adapter in the car, keep it charged, keep the sim working,... You nailed it. As for 7.2 Mbps... Yes, I only average ~ 3 Mbps with TOT 3G (iMobile 3GX) but have peaked at 5.9 Mbps. Seems fine for those activities one might want to do on the way from the airport to the hotel? I assume TOT wanted the "up to ..." put in the press release? My sense was that TOT was a sponsor so would likely offer 'bottomless' SIMs; and there are car-charges with mini-/micro-USB; I use one, so that doesn't seem like a huge hurdle. Mentioning iPad access is fine, of course a lot of people understand they can use WiFi, in addition to (optionally 3G), but nothing wrong with 'brand-dropping' IME. June 14, 201115 yr Sounds like a bunch of empty promises (again). TIT. Lets see how long it will last before they shut it down again because of incompetence ... (and angry customers) Cheers, rudi
June 16, 201115 yr I saw a similar announcement for some public city busses in Georgetown/Penang. Never saw it working, though
