Had a few holidays in India over the last 5 years, begin with outsourcing IT in Mumbai but after that primarily social in Goa area (entirely different to Mumbai - which stinks) and Im considering next visa run flying over there with the Thai girlfriend for a week.

In England I send my visa app off to London and its returned prompt (just like Hull) after applicable fee (expensive for 1 month fee), but job done..

My questions are:

1) Being an UK national, in thailand atm, can I get my visa locally, i.e. Indian embassy bangkok, passport already has several indian visas (expired)

2) For the thai girlfriend what is the process for here? (holiday only)

Dreaming of drinking 30rupee kingfisher on palolem beach @ cafe de mar after a game of volleyball (or most days watching -- too fat nowadays).. :D

I think since you live in Thailand no problem A guy I know did around the world trip and waited until he got to Bangkok for his India visa a few years ago. They asked him why he didn't get visa in the states, he says because I thought I could get it here. After a bit of himming and hawing they gave him the visa but said next time get it in the states before leaving.

India is making it more difficult to get visas locally, you should have no problem with a Tourist Visa but anything else unless you have a Work Permit or PR is going to be difficult.

Apply on-line here http://www.ivac-th.com/ you don't apply to the Embassy but via VFS in the Glashaus which is on Sukhumvit close to Asoke BTS.

Don't forget that once you leave India you cannot return for 60 days if on a Tourist Visa, so no side trips to Sri Lanka, Nepal etc.

EDIT Forgot to add, it takes a week to get a visa for a foreigner, overnight for a Thai.

EDIT 2 Corrected period out of the country on a TV (thanks Mahseer)

Its actually 60 days you have to stay out before reentering and this is stamped on the visa - 180 days maximum stay and then minimum of 60 days out before returning. If you live in Chiang Mai the consulate here will issue visas no problem and as I am a frequent visitor they offered me a 5 year visa 3 months back which I gladly accepted but days in/out remain the same.

I left Mmubai Wednesday and monsoon has started so Goa will be damp and cheapest beer I had was 80 rupees but that was in HP and Uttarakhand but maybe different taxes Goa way.

Enjoy
