chucky66 Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 My partner and I are British Nationals and will be travelling to Thailand in April next year and we have a question about the 30-day no-visa stay. We are unsure of when the 30 day period would start. For example, we plan to arrive into Thailand at midday on 18th April and were thinking of leaving on a 3:15am flight on 18th May. Would this be covered under the 30-day no-visa stay? If our stay constitutes a day over the 30 day period would we then have to pay a fee for that extra day?
george Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 The first day of overstay is "free", but the Immigration stamp overstay in your passport, because it;s illegal to overstay. You better extend at the local immigration office or apply for a 60-days tourst visa before leaving home. Click on "Overstay" at the top of this page.
lopburi3 Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 Would highly advise getting a tourist visa in advance as airline 'could' refuse to let you board or if you had problems on your last day your status would not be legal. The day of arrival always counts as day one (one day), even if at 2359, so you are right to be asking. You have plenty of time to get tourist visas.
chucky66 Posted December 30, 2003 Author Posted December 30, 2003 Thanks lopburi and george for your kind help. We werent sure if visas ran from timepoint to timepoint or by day as we will actually be in Thailand for less than 30 days in time (30 x 24 hours) but if the Thai authorities go by day then that would take us over our 30 day no-visa stay by 3 hours. We shall probably cut our trip short by one day to ensure tehre arent any problems.
