Aiko Electric Kettle Problem

Recommended Posts

Posted

I recently bought an 'Aiko' cordless plastic electric kettle, model JAK-1800.

It looks and works fine, but hot beverages made with it have a strong chemical/plastic taste. The inside of the kettle also smells strongly of plastic. I thought the problem would disappear with repeated use – but no joy.

I’ve tried recommendations found on Google for this (apparently common) plastic kettle problem using in this order: baking soda, then vinegar, limes, and finally strong concentrations of washing up liquid. None of these worked, and it still stinks of plastic!

Does anybody have an Aiko kettle? Did you have this problem? If so, did you solve it and how?

[if all fails, can anybody recommend a brand/model they have at home that doesn't smell?]

I have no solution for your problem, but i can highly recommend a Siemens TW911P2

I have had mine for nearly 5 years, and it has never failed me. It is also one of the fastest kettles on the market, and it can boil up to 1.5l

Have sen it here for about 7000THB, but it is frequently on sale. It might seem a bit pricy for a kettle, but it is really worth the money!
