June 24, 201115 yr Sawasdee krub, I'm not sure in wich category this post should be. So feel free to move this to the correct part of this forum. I see heard this forum is full of enthousiastic and passionate filmmakers. I would like to askyou something. This approach may seem a little bit weird, but I will explain: My name is Friso Poldervaart. I’m 19 years old and from The Netherlands inEurope. I’m a student at the academy of media and my passion is filmmaking. Istarted filming when I was eight and I can’t think of a life without filmmaking. I’m looking for ways to improve my skills and to work with other people. Amonth ago, this idea came up to me. I always would like to make a documentairy. This different aspect of film looks like a great adventure, and also like agreat challenge. For me, a great challenge is not enough. I want to make itspecial! The idea of making a documentairy about the fire department in my village. Thisis a small department with only 5 or 6 firefighters, helping people in danger. This really interests and inspires me. Tonight, I came up with the idea ofmaking it into a cross-over with another fire department in a whole othercountry. The audience will see the great differences but also the things thatare the same even though the situations are extremely differtent. I got a great passion for Thailand. I love everything about it, and been therefor 3 times. My question to you is: Would you like to participate in this project? We canget to know each other and work together on a very unique documentary withyoure and mine country mixing together on the same subject. I really think thisis a wonderfull idea. The project isn’t based or money or anything of that sort. This is just out ofthe love of filmmaking and the love of sharing story’s with people. I just hopewe can work this out together, two people with the same passion for film, making a film together. If you like this idea, please contact me or leave a message in this topic. <email removed> Together we can work it out. Thanks in advance, Friso Poldervaart. June 24, 201115 yr If Thailand has a fire department then it's the first I heard of it. I'd love to take part, but hopefully won't be around . Good luck with it though, what ever it may be. I'm sure there will be people here to help.
June 25, 201115 yr Don't think you will be able to get work permits for this one Better get familiar with the laws of Thailand :jap:
June 25, 201115 yr I think it is a wonderful idea. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Fire and Rescue Department does have a media relations department.Contact them. Despite the negative comments that will most likely show up in this thread, the personnel are dedicated and take pride in their job. Considering the difficult situations of congested areas, unsafe structures, limited fire code enforcement etc., they do a good job. I saw them respond to one fire in a set of row shops. How they were able to contain and control that inferno in such a short time impressed me. Pay no attention to the negative comments. There are accomodations allowed for documentary film makers, particularly if you are doing something positive and have the blessing of the implicated government agency. It's just some extra paper work and nothing you haven't experienced before. I wish you good luck and think you picked a good subject.

I can't imagine any problems about work permits, etc, these are just the negatives many people come up with to complain about how things are. Best of luck with your project, keep a positive attitude and things will turn out well! mario299
June 25, 201115 yr Author Thanks! This really enthousiast me! I think you don't understand what i am triying to say. I would like to ask if someone in Thailand could shoot the part in Thailand. I myself shoot the part of The Netherlands. Later on, we edit all the footage into one documentary. That's the plan, so i won't come to Thailand. Yes, i will come in 2 weeks. But that is for holidays! Friso.
June 26, 201115 yr dude wants to do a documentary on Thailand. is coming to Thailand for 2 weeks. but, doesn't want to work on his documentary. on Thailand. k. Edited June 26, 201115 yr by anothertorres
June 27, 201115 yr Author dude wants to do a documentary on Thailand. is coming to Thailand for 2 weeks. but, doesn't want to work on his documentary. on Thailand. k. That's a little bit of short thinking, but i understand. The thing about this documentairy is the international collabration between two filmmakers. It's not that i don't wan't to work on my documentary. It's the knowledge of letting it go knowing a Thai filmmaker will do this in a much brighter and more pure way than i do. Me as a farang who speaks some Thai will never get the same anwsers and emotion a true Thai would get. That's my point.
