Hi. I agreed to work for a new company and they will take care of my work permit. If I'm informed well, this company has 2 million in paid capital so only one work permit is possible.

At the moment, there's someone else working on that wp and his term will end only in September.

Does this mean, that my wp application will start only in September or can it start now while someone else is still working on that wp?

I'm not sure if I want to wait until the middle of October to start working legally (I assume a 6-week term for wp to be approved). Thank you.

Your employer can increase it's capitalisation to the 4 million required for two foreigners to hold work permits; it's an accounting/registation process that costs a few thousand baht per million of capital.

Depending on the nature of your employer's business and your local Labour Department (different areas read the regulations in different ways), there may well be additional issues including the number of Thai employees, VAT Registration, etc.

Currently, in some areas, Work Permit applications can drag on for more than three months, but can also take less than three weeks.

Thank you but as you guessed, my employer won't increase the capital or the number of Thai employees as he needs only one wp.

So, nobody has a clue if it's possible to start applying for a wp when someone else is still working on that wp?
