Health Insurance Options?

Featured Replies

I will be moving to Thailand in a couple of weeks for an extended stay of at least 2 years.

I am 35 years old and in pretty good health with some ongoing prescriptions for minor things.

My Thai partner is a doctor (added benefit) so I am looking for basic coverage with some type of catastrophic coverage in case of a major accident. I also would like something that extends to travel outside of Thailand for trips home to the USA or the odd vacation in SE Asia.

I will not be working while in the LOS, so I am looking for the most economical options out there.

Can anyone offer advice on what types of plans are available that fit my needs, or who have experience with this kind of situation and what has worked/not worked for you?

Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks vont! I have looked at the Thaivisa Insurance plan and it seems reasonable.

Does anyone else have suggestions to make a comparison?

Try AA Insurance brokers thailand. They have always got me good coverage in my insurance.

"Health" insurance is probably a somewhat misleading term. Given your circumstances you probably want coverage for hospital stays in Thailand. BUPA Thailand insurance is primarily for in-patient care. If you add in out-patient care the premiums shoot up and if you're in good health (and in the company of a doctor) it would probably be unnecessary.

BUPA THAILAND

If you will be out of the country a lot, you might want to consider BUPA international ... excluding coverage in North America, which also sends the premiums skyrocketing.
