I am married to a Thai government teacher, and her parents are therefore eligible for free health care in a government hospital. Her father is 71 and mother in late sixties, both in good health. I am hoping to move back to Australia permanently with my wife but as this will mean her parents losing their free health care, I feel obliged to pay for their health insurance, but I know nothing about it.......except perhaps that unless people join at an early age, premiums are much more expensive. Could someone please give me some advice about this ?

I certainly can't simply say that I will just pay whatever medical bills they incur......they could be enormous if one of them gets a serious illness...

They will be eligible for free healthcare...hospital, medical drugs and limited dental under the Gold card scheme if they register at their local hospital.
