Bring Your Pool To Life With A Mosaic Design

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am originally from the UK. I have been in Thailand for the past 6 years and are currently situated in Nakhon Sawan. I successfully gained a BA Hons degree in Public Art & Design from the Royal Chelsea College Of Art And Design based in London, where I specialised in mosaics.

I have being doing quite a bit of research on the internet regarding swimming pools and spas and todate have not seen many pools or spas with a design on their floors, they all seem to be mainly plain tiles. So if any expats would like to give their old swimming pools a facelift or would like a design incorporated during the construction stage then I'm your man.

While in the UK I completed a number of commissions. Clients include : Middlesbrough Football Club, The English Football Association, Liverpool Football Club, Boisdale Private Gentleman's Club ( London ), Gilzeans Sports Bar ( Middlesbrough ), Frankestein Theme Bar/Restrauant ( Glasgow ) as well as several private commissions which included bathroom floor, toilet floor and wall mosaics.

There are two basic methods to mosaic work - the direct method and the indirect method.

In the direct method, the pieces of material you are going to mosaic with, known as tesserae, are directly fixed top side up onto a base or substrate and then grouted.

In the indirect method pieces are temporarily fixed top side down onto a removable base material. This is (then) cast in its final form and the temporary base material is removed to reveal the mosaic, top side up. The indirect method is most often used when the finished surface needs to be extremely smooth and is the ideal method for swimming pools and floors.

If you need anymore information or have any questions you would like to ask you can contact me by email at [ Email removed ] or PM me and I will glady pass on my contact telephone numbers.

Kind Regards

Jeff
