can you ask the question again in English please

You don't understand? My english is not perfect but i think is clear,i ask if is possible connect the cable fone from true direct to my router, without using modem> :o

Nope, you cannot!

The big plugs on the router are for network cables (8 contacts RJ45), a whole different thing as the telephone line with the smaller plug (4 contacts RJ11)

You could say that the modem is the adapter :o

From the DLink website, it appears that the DI-724P+ is a wireless router only (without built-in modem feature). Therefore, you will not be able to connect it directly to the ADSL phone line. You will need to connect your modem to your router, and your phone line to the modem.

hi'

just look for a routeur with a dsl modem inside :o

and choose it with wireless too :D

cisco comes to mind :D

connect with ethernet cables (rj45) ... [not crossover]

Can I Use Router Without Modem?

yes of course you can. Pay no attention to the others in here who tell you you cannot. It depends only on what you want to use the router for. It makes a good coffee cup holder for example, depending on the model, or else a door stop, or 'situational art' by placing it on a dead cow, or in the fridge.

hehe.

It also provides address translation if you are connected to another network.

For example.

I have a wireless connection here.

The antenna is on the roof and I have an ip cable to my notebook.

If I want to connect more computers I need a router.

My provider only gives me one ip address.

I'm using TOT goldcyber package in samui. When the chap came to test

the line at the beginning, he supplied me with a ZyXel Prestige 600

modem, and that is all.

My question is, do I need a router?? I hear people talking about them on

this forum, and was wondering if this was the reason, or my modem, as

to why my ADSL is so slooow.

Forgot to say I'm running one laptop only.

Thank for your help

If you are only using one computer then there is no need for a router as well.

A router can provide you with an additional level of firewall,

but you should still be running a sw firewall on your laptop.

NETGEAR

A cheaper little brother of cisco!!!

Should only set you back about baht 7,500!

It's actually Linksys that's 'a cheap little brother of Cisco' in that they are owned by Cisco. Netgear is a competitor.
