Not really my business, as a guest of this country.

However, it strikes me that if Pheu Thai do form a government, and Thaksin Shinawatra is somehow allowed to return, Thailand will become a laughing-stock in the eyes of the International community.

International opinion has never seemed to be a concern to Thailand but allowing back a convicted criminal, who has orchestrated the PTP campaign, (with his return being openly and strongly canvassed) does seem foolish.

I could not seeing it happening in a truly developed country (in fairness I can't actually see it happening here).

International opinion has never seemed to be a concern to Thailand . . . .

Quite right. But it doesn't matter anyway because there is no international opinion about Thailand, not to diminish the very important, highly significant, extremely consequential weight of your own. It's a small, obscure, faraway, economically unimportant Third World country in which no one besides Thais themselves (and Thailand's immediate neighbors, same situation) has any interest. Hence, nobody's going to care enough to laugh--or to applaud.

When you look at everything that has gone on in Thailand since 2006 and how it has remainded business as usual do you realy think the rest of the world cares who leads the country as long as in business there is money to be made. No one cares and it none of their business what happens internally, what others care about is money. Can they invest here and make a buck. The leader could be a 12 year old but if foreign owned countries could make a buck they would be here. Diplomats would still chat with the leader and make trips here and get their picture taken with the leader. It will just be business as usual with Thaksin here or Thaksin not here. I think he is foolish to come back he will likely get shot.

As much as I have learned to love this country, Im afraid it has already become a Laughing-Stock.

Wherever I travel and people ask where I live, they immediately ask me about the political situation and the corruption here.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is starting to become common knowledge among people outside the political areanas as well.

The latest stunt by apointing the sister, whom doesnt even has the slightest clue about her party's own general political agenda, has brought Thailand into a new level of Nepotism.

Just take a look at the UK , how many Politions have been convicted and are still Lords, and still sit in the House of Commons , Judging and passing Laws
