My cousing living in bkk has chronic bad breath. She can feel the room with her stench. She told me it comes from her throat i guess. Here teeth are 100 % perfect, she was checked by few dentists. Has anybody have any similar problem and got cured by the help of doctors in Thailand?

thanks

Does she has some stomach problems? Her teeth are perfect what about her gums? She could have some underlying gums problem. You also have bad breath when you don't eat for a long time too.

Try Omeprazole Capsuls. They close the reflux valve at the top of the stomarch .Which maybe will stop any smells if they come from there. The pills are very cheap so worth a try .Just 1 pill taken each morning. Other than that get her some floss . My teeth are in very good condition but I do have a prob area that seems to attract particles of food which if I leave smells really bad .So I floss afer eating :)

teeth cleaning two and possibly three times a year (must)

flossing at least every other day (must), after each meal is best option.\

brush teeth but also tongue and mouth after every meal

use antibacterial mouthwash

cut back on foods like all meats but esp red meat and stinky issarn types of dishes if that is the story. also processed foods.

go to dentist and have "deep cleaning" performed as well as special check for gum infection and disease. does she has any pain in her mouth? infection.

my hunch is she has never been to the dentist, takes poor care of her teeth. she complains that going to dentist really hurts. this is usually because people such as this have gum disease.

use breath mints, eat parsley.

YUCK

The treatment depends on the cause. While there are other possibilities, the most common ones are dental in nature.

Although you say she has been seen by dentists, one wonders about the quality of the care...a dental abscess would be obvious to any dentists but she needs also to be checked by a periodontist to check for possible gum disease -- and to have a really through cleaning, not the sort of thing you get at the average dentists around here. I suggest she go to the Bangkok Dental Hospital on Soi 49 Sukhumvit for thorough evaluation and root planing..

If that fails to show anything, next step would be a basic physcial exam (to rule out diabetes, kidney disease and the like - low end check up package at any hospital will do this) and then if still no evident cause consult an ENT specialist.

I totally defer to Sheryl's opinion and esp the check at the Dental Hospital. I have gone there for ten years, it's the best.

She may very well be ill or she also could simply be blessed with straight, white teeth and you have assumed that means a clean mouth and good gums as well.

Some people go round and round in circles trying to remedy bad breath.

Let me tell you a little secret.....

99 per cent of bad breath comes from the tongue.

She needs to stop using filthy Thai tap water to brush her teeth and start using filtrated water. She also needs to brush her tongue. Whilst it is tempting to brush the tongue aggressively it is wiser to be sensible and not do so too strongly.

I use a toothpaste called "KForce Breath Guard Gel" which is expensive but also aids in stopping smelly bacteria from growing in the mouth and on the tongue. Here is the link...

Best of luck.

Brush, floss, brush the tongue too. Also maybe cut back on the garlic vegetables. My girlfriend's father puts like 10 cloves of garlic on fried vegetables.

This could emanate from the gut.

Salts, Alka Seltzer or Andrews Liver Salts @ one teaspoon every morning in warm botltled water would help if this were the case.

Constipation results in bad breath and although she may be regular, the above will help the system be cleansed more efficiently.

i agree with fritter, try breezecare.com.

bad breath normally comes from the mouth area. not the stomach. either from the back of the throat, the very back of the tongue, the top area of the tongue or diseased gums. and i you are going to clean your tongue, you need a decent tongue cleaner (scraper) - and you cannot buy these on the high street (see website)

what does her breath smell like?

Rotten Egg Smell

This gas is probably the easiest of the three gases to treat. It generally comes from the breakdown of Cysteine to Hydrogen Sulphide. Bacteria that cause this particular smell will live on the front of the tongue surface. A simple tongue cleaning protocol using non foaming gels and a tongue cleaner will quickly control this bad breath gas.

Faecal Smell or "Poo" Breath

This smell is the result of the breakdown of Methionine to Methyl Mercaptan. Generally anaerobic bacteria that are pathogenic will cause this smell. These bacteria will live in two main areas of the mouth. On the very back of the tongue surface at the "gag" reflex and also under the gums. If you do not floss twice a day, or if your floss smells or your gums bleed, these are all indicators of colonies of the bacteria that will cause this smell. Also if you have difficulty cleaning the very back of your tongue, or you have a throat issue then you will have colonies of the bacteria in this area as well.

Cabbage , Gasoline and Faeces

This smell is Dimethyl Sulphide, which is also a breakdown of Methionine. This is the halitophobics gas. By this I mean patients that can smell their own breath but no one else can have this gas. The compounds sit at the back of the throat and are transferred to the nose where the patient can smell them. however the compounds are in small quantities and never at levels that offend the general public. This explains why other people cannot smell this gas when you obviously can
