Anybody signed up with a bill-paying mobile phone network? Which are the good ones, if you want to send SMS's overseas and don't call much like I do? I think you need to show your work permit, is this correct?

It depends on where you live.

Some areas are better covered by DTAC.

Orange is still a little waek on the coverage side.

Ask around before you buy the card.

The work permit used to be a requirement, heaven knows why.

Aren't retired people allowed phones.

If they do hassle you, get a prepaid, then all you need to show is your passport.
