MOSCOW, RUSSIA (BNO NEWS) -- At least one person was killed after a tour bus crashed into another vehicle in the southern region of Russia, officials said Thursday.

The accident occurred Wednesday night on the Anapa-Gostagayevskaya highway in Russia's southern region of Krasnodar, around 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) from the village of Krasny, the local Emergency Ministry told RIA Novosti.

According to a spokesman from the ministry, the tour bus, which was traveling from the village of Cherkessky and on its way to the city of Anapa, Krasnodar Kai, crashed into another vehicle. In addition to the fatal victim, 13 others were injured. Emergency teams rushed to the scene and transported all of the injured to local hospitals.

In Russia, around 30,000 people die each year in traffic accidents partially due to the country's highway network, which is in poor condition, and partially due to reckless driving.
