BTW, there are other options in the Americas that are easy for Thais. For example, Brazil, Thais don't need a visa for a 90 day stay.

This is 10 years ago, but my Thai wife and I were thinking of hitting Mexico when in the U.S. for a visit. The application process at the Mexican Embassy in Bangkok looked pretty cumbersome, and I noted that they have a Consulate in Portland, Oregon, so we just did it there. Two minute interview in the hallway, come back after lunch to pick up the visa. Zero documents submitted other than her passport.
