Apologies for such a basic query but I'm wondering how to remove the opening and closing ditty when I turn on and off my computer.I looked at the sounds and audio devices on the control panel but that wasn't the right way.

Sounds Tab

scroll down to

Exit Windows

Start Windows

Sounds

click on drop down windows and Select (none)

Just plug in a headphone jack.

That will turn off external audio.

mute the speakers

Thanks Sulasno, I found a 'no sounds' on the sounds tab and that did the job.
