My wish:

I don't expect for one second that the new PM will do anything for those male aliens who are married to Thais (ie: have a stake, both personal and financial, in the country and call it home even if they may not feel at home) .

Nevertheless, my wish is that she immediately (yes now!) put into law: all male aliens legally married to Thais be granted, at the very least, exactly the same deal as alien women married to Thai men. Or, even better, all aliens legally married to Thais be granted full citizenship or at the very least PR.

By doing so she will tread a path that no other PM has had the decency nor the guts to travel.

She would be seen as a true modern world thinker.

A fighter for human rights and doing "the right thing".

A real believer in the family unit as a basis for society.

She would be the darling of almost the entire expat community. Even those not married to a Thai would see the merit in a gracious act like this. And, it would gain her a lot of support and credibility in the whole expat community.

It would, or at least should, be world-wide news. She could strut the world stage for years to come on speking tours and books. I even see prestigious international awards for her work for humanity.

She would become the pin-up girl for all those Thais , particularly women, married to aliens.

I'm sorry I can only contine to think of plusses for this idea and would urge the new PM to take up the batton and win some BIG BIG browny points from literally thousands and thousands in Thailand overnight.

She might even get her own statue out of it
