July 17, 201114 yr Just a question , I need an afidit to get married.I have the divorce confirmation papers from when I got previously married and divorced in Spain but I am a UK citizen. How do I go about getting an afidit ? Do I go to the UK embassy or the Spanish embassy ? Maybe someone can advise me.Thanks
July 17, 201114 yr Since you carry a UK passport I'd try the British Embassy or Consulate first. If you are only making an Affirmation of Freedom to Marry affidavit, it should not matter. If the embassy or consulate needs to see a certified copy of the divorce papers, then you have a problem. The Affirmation of Freedom to Marry needs to be translated into Thai and certified by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs before proceeding to your local District Office (Amphur) to legally register the marriage. July 17, 201114 yr You will need to show original divorce papers. You take these with the completed Affirmation of Freedom to Marry (Download from UK Embassy website) Then onto the MFA to have the Affirmation translated to Thai. and then you're set to go

July 17, 201114 yr Affirmation of freedom (example)[PDF, 9.9 Kb] Try this link or go to British Embassy Thailand... Help for British Nationals... Living in Thailand... How to register a marriage all the info you need + the sample form which you can copy with your own details. Do not sign and date it until you are asked to by the consulate
July 17, 201114 yr I think you have it the wrong way round.. You need to goto the British Embassy first in Wireless Road to do the Affirmation afterwards to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chaen Wattana Road. The Embassy website gives you step by step procedure to follow, follow the details in my last post. Edited July 17, 201114 yr by Tafia
