PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- At least 10 people were killed when a group of gunmen opened fire against a vehicle in the western region of Pakistan, officials said Tuesday.

The incident occurred near Boshehra village in Pakistan's Upper Kurram agency, when the gunmen fired on a passenger van that took off from Sada and was headed toward Boshehra, local authorities told the Express Tribune.

Among the fatal victims were four men, three women, and three children, according to Sher Bahadar, a local administrative official. In addition, three other children were wounded. Nine of the killed people were from the village of Boshehra, where their bodies were transported. The driver of the vehicle, from Balishkhel, was also killed during the attack.

No group or terrorist organization has claimed responsibility of the attack, but Bahadar said the violence was linked to sectarian efforts. The gunmen were were able to flee and remain at large.

Sicko. Though I had hoped to see the amazing western Himalayas of northern Pakistan one day, I doubt I'll ever go to such a troubled part of the world.
