October 24, 200520 yr In the next 2 months we are planning to send all our household effects from UK to Thailand. Can anybody out there recommend a good shipping agent we could use? I also heard all kind of stories about people having bad experience with Thai custom taxes when their stuff arrived. Any advise here on avoid paying high taxes will be appreciated. Thks/W
October 24, 200520 yr Advise your status for shipment. Is it a returning Thai national? Someone with a work permit and extension of stay? Free import is rather limited so the person answering will need a little more information.

As she is a returning Thai resident, we will be shipping all the household effects in her name. For me, I will need to obtain a non-immigrant 'O' Thai visa.
October 24, 200520 yr If you are shipping large amount, e.g a container load these are cheap enough, rough price around 1000-1200 uk £s. I have only ever used them for containers arriving but they do export and have always been very good, If you are looking at small amounts of stuff, i would not even bother, sell it and buy again out there as you probably knew. Good luck Unsworth shipping lines. Based in tilbury but can ship anywhere in the UK, eg southampton etc. 02085398899
October 25, 200520 yr We had very good experience (twice) with Asia Tigers Bangkok and you WILL need to reserve at least 20,000 baht for customs whatever the contents of your boxes Have heard of other Farangs being hit for 50,000 and more but Asia Tigers got us through relatively cheaply. We shipped a VERY large crate or two.
