Why can't they do this without entering the at the wrong side of the road? With "they" I mean the local drivers. Annoying to say the least.

If u think the right turns are bad, then look out for the left ones. Don't get me started on reversing.

Know what you mean. But I think the right turns are the worst, especially if you want to make a left turn. What's the wrong with these people?

I think maybe they're not very thoughtful drivers, nor particularly well-trained.

If you work at it, you should be able to get yourself into a veritable frenzy of indignation and self-righteousness.

In order to avoid being distressed by what I see on the roads in Thailand, I normally drive with my eyes closed; that helps avoid lecherous thoughts, as well.

Maybe you could teach me. Free of course, so you wont end up in problems with WP and the like.

BTW. Do you speak any other language than England?

In many places, it seems to be more of the exception than the norm. In Trad, however, it is so much the norm they get bent or confused if I attempt to drive, uhm, safely, which means it's actually not so safe.

Beyond that, I must fall back on rule # 8) Not to post extremely negative views of Thailand or derogatory comments directed towards all Thais, and therefore I make no further comment resulting in subsequent farang bashing by some other members telling me to "go home".

I fail to see the problem here. You come to the intersection, count to 10, close your eyes and the make your turn independent of who or what might already be there. Unless of course someone else is already making a right turn. Then you use him as a blocker and follow him right through. Americans may have an advantage here due to our childhood training in American football. Sometimes the hole that opens up may be in a lane going the wrong direction. That doesn't matter though as long as you have a clear line of sight to the goal line.

Isn't that what all the rest of you do? I thought it was common knowledge.

And that would be? Hey, I'm from US and I'm coming through.

I know this well. I have been grandfathered in. The rules don't applied for Thai drivers. I've been in the Taxi's and the "Win" motorcycle taxi's (I still don't knoe what it means), and I've heard most of the commotions. The problem is no one is wrong because the rules are for the other guys. That is the reason the traffic problems can not be fixed not even with the German Traffic Engineers. The motorcycle guy was passing a bus and hit my left knee on the front bumper of a bus moving at 40 MPH then he turned to me and said "excuse me" in Thai.

'Scuze me but you seem to have missed out one essential word here.

Between 'the' and 'at'.

If you could make up this deficit and add a few more adjectives as well as nouns, we may get a higher standard of debate here.

Maybe.

I hate it when they do that. I try to keep my knees and elbows in, but the motosai drivers are shooting gaps between vehicles for their size, not mine...

I find closing my eyes helps me to have lots more outrageous erotic and lecherous thoughts. I think it is part of the system that enables you to meet a higher class of people in 'wet dreams' than in real life.

On the road my terak, after a sharp intake of breath as I save yet another idiot from injury, strokes my thigh and counsels me with "Keng inside darling, keng inside."
