Work Permit

Featured Replies

So yeah, I've got a mate, who started teaching at a school prior to getting his work permit. Around 3 months prior while he was still on a tourist visa.

In the contract which he has to show to immigration, is it better for him to say he started in May, or to say he will start in August.

My thinking is that it'd be best to say that he starts in August, but the school wants to say May instead and has prepared documents for this which they want him to sign.

Any experience on this, as to whether immigration would give a dam_n that he was working for 3 months prior to applying for a work permit? As I'd hate to see my mate get deported because he didn't get pushy with his school to change the initial document which they did up for him.

Why is he going to immigrations?

He will not get any extension based on employment if he has no WP.

Does the immigration office want to see the employment contract with an application for extension of stay for the reason of employment? I thought it was just the work permit plus a stack of documents about the company, but not the contract.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Believe not unusual to see the contract, as the contract can also determine how long one is allowed to stay. With a contract for 6 months one would only get an extension of stay till end of contract.
