Almost 100 Russian tourists poisoned in Turkish resort city

ALANYA, TURKEY (BNO NEWS) -- Almost 100 Russian tourists received medical assistance after suspected food poisoning in the Turkish resort city of Alanya, officials said on Wednesday.

According to RIA Novosti, Russia's tourist watchdog said 98 tourists had been poisoned and that eight remained in the hospital. Turkish health officials have taken samples of the Club Gunes Garden hotel's food and drinks, where all the tourists were staying.

Five Russian tourists died in the Turkish port city of Bodrum in late May after drinking bootleg whiskey on a sailing trip organized by a local company.

Earlier this month, at least 77 Russian children and nine adults were hospitalized with food poisoning in Ukraine. Most of the victims, aged from 8 to 15, were on holiday at the Albatross health improvement camp in the village of Liubimovka, Nakhimovskyi district.

Maybe they should have picked a safer place to vacation - like a certain hotel in Chiang Mai .......or maybe not.
