Dental Bridge

Hi. I had a tooth removed yesterday and it is off the front. I need to get a Bridge for a replacement. I was quoted 37,000 baht +. This seems quite expensive to me here in Thailand especially with the $ down so much. Anyone have experience with having this done and is this reasonable price? Thanks

Im just having some treatment at my dentist called Dental for You directly opposite Tuk com main entrance, south pattaya rd.

Root canal treatment and a pin and crown on my front tooth 11500bt and it's taken 6 appointments to complete the treatment.

I would recommend you go there for a consultation and price.

You may find that a bridge would not be the best long term solution and that the dentist you visited is not qualified to do implants

instead, which would probably be the best solution

My brother in law had two implants done there last year for 40000bt each.

Ask to see Dr Kwanchai. (implant specialist) he'll give you sound advice.

Did that price include everything? (Crown, xrays etc.)

Were they "instant" implants or the ones that take several months to finish?

Yes that price did include everything, the implants were fitted first, then a 3 month wait

for them to take to the jaw bone before the crowns were fitted. They also have an instant X-ray

procedure inclusive of the price.

I wouldn't pay 37000 + baht for a bridge when you can have an implant done for 40k

which will last for the rest of your life in most cases.

A bridge can cause bacteria build up

on the two supporting teeth and under the bridge on the gum, and im talking from experience where

i had a bridge done on a molar 5 years ago and one of the supporting teeth decayed

which meant i had to have the bridge and the supporting tooth removed after only 5 years.

OK, Sotsira I checked their website. It looks like it is now 48,000 for a single implant. However I see that they do a 3 tooth bridge for 21,000. Anyway I am trying to get an consultation appointment for tomorrow Saturday and will keep this thread posted. By the way I had a bridge done15 years ago in Costa Rica which is still holding up great. Just luck of the draw I guess.

had a bridge fitted which I leave in except when cleaning my teeth, 12 years ago. still going strong, no probs. no one of the front ones has started to wear thru at the back but otherwise brilliant and of course.. NO PAIN. done in the uk, cost me £2500, if it wears out i would go same route.

totally recommend removeable bridge, no pain, 3-4 visits to make sure its made and fitted, and no one knows except me.. well and u now :)

Ask for a consultation with Dr Kwanchai Dental for You Tel: 038 724 215

He is the main dentist there and does the implants on site.

When my brother in law had his done, they had the price listed at 45k each and he asked them to reduce it to 40k.

Like any other business if you don't ask you don't get, so always worth a try.

As you said your bridge in Costa Rica has lasted 15yrs where mine done in the UK, only 5yrs.

Thats why i wouldn't take the chance with a bridge cos the two supporting teeth have to be ground down

and could end up starting a new problem, unlike an implant.

Good luck whatever you decide,

Keep us posted.

I had 2 bridges done at APC (Soi 5) about ten years ago and have never had a problem with them. The price is dependant on how much gold is used in the bridge.

This is true about the gold. However I was not given an option about that at APC. I have sent 2 emails to the clinic and no response about the cheaper options. I do like the work done at APC however today I went to Dental 4 You across from Tuk.com and was quoted 15,000 baht (no gold) compared to 37,000 at APC.

  • 2 weeks later...

Dental 4 You

I went there today to get an appointment for a check-up and descale, and to discuss a possible implant.

The dentist saw me immediately. I suggested injections prior to the descaling but he said "We dont generally use those in Thailand".

5 minutes later he had the syringe out!

My dentist in Europe generally gives me about 6 shots, but whatever the Thai dentist used was more potent (or maybe he was a better dentist) as just 2 shots was enough.

He did a good clean and the boss/specialist came and looked at my mouth re the implant. "Not enough bone" he said. "You need a bridge." So I will be going back there next week to talk about that. (Couldnt talk about anything today because of the injections. :) )

Rather disappointed as I know an implant is better than a bridge.

My bill today was 700B (price list says 500-800). In Europe I paid 3500B for the same clean/descale.

So this place gets my

When I went there regarding my bridge I was told I needed a Root Canal first. This was without taking any x-rays and that it would take close to a month to do with numerous visits. To be honest I did not feel very comfortable with the dentist. So I ended back with my regular dentist at APC Clinic. After exam with x-rays I did not need to do a Root Canal. I had two cavity's filled and had the bridge constructed. I go back in Wednesday for the final bridge. One cavity was quite deep but after wards and for the last 4 days no pain. I am however happy to hear you are satisfied. I was just a little nervous with the dentist at Dental 4 you, perhaps I should have given him a try. Good luck. :D

I'm always somewhat impressed when any professional proposes a cheaper option rather than a more expensive one, for whatever reason. Especially here where most farang customers are probably long gone before any problems arise, and where there isnt much consumer protection anyway.

I do intend to get a second opinion before deciding on both the treatment and the dentist who will do it, and for that I will probably try one of the other dentists mentioned on here, or maybe the one in Central Festival that does the flyers. They all seem to do free check-ups.

I was entirely satisfied with the descale I had today though and will return there for another one in 4 months, unless I have selected another place to do the other treatment before then.

I agree totally with getting a second opinion. I have been using the dentist at APC Clinic for the four years I have been living here and was always satisfied. What prompted me to check with another dentist was price. What put me off was the fact the dentist at Dental 4 you wanted to do a Root Canal which didn't seem to be needed. After talking with my regular dentist he worked with me on cheaper options. Even though Dentist 4 you was cheaper, glad I stuck with dentist I knew and trusted. APC Clinic dentist has a long and trusted business as noted by another poster on this post. He used to be on soy 5 but now is off of 3rd road across from the driving range. Thanks for your input on all this.

Ruining 2 good teeth to replace a missing one is a very heavy price to pay.... and then you have to pay for the bridge.

I wouldn't do it. Either put up with a missing tooth or save up for an implant.

I reckon you were game trusting a clinic with a name like that.

Either put up with a missing tooth or save up for an implant.

Leaving it is a bad idea: a missing tooth will cause the ones on either side to fall inwards over time, and you will lose them also.

Unfortunately it's not always possible to have an implant and then you have no choice but a bridge. :annoyed:

I suppose that depends on how long you wait, but I've seen bridges inserted many years after a tooth was extracted (I paid for them). As the poster earlier reported, they were nothing but trouble.
