Fresh clashes erupt between Israeli troops and anti-wall protesters in West Bank

WEST BANK (BNO NEWS) -- At least four people were injured and four others were arrested on Friday in clashes between Israeli troops and anti-wall protesters in a number of West Bank communities.

According to Palestine News Network, three women were injured and a journalist and three activists were arrested in the central West Bank village of al-Nabi Salleh. Israeli troops reportedly used rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas to disperse protesters who had marched to local farm lands Israel had taken to build a new settlement.

In the nearby village Bil'in, soldiers also fired tear gas at the weekly protest as international and Israeli supporters joined the villagers after midday prayers. PEDAL, a group of supporters from the United Kingdom, Ireland and Scotland who reached Palestine after having travelled 7,000 kilometers (4,349 miles) by bicycle from London, also joined the protests.

Clashes were also reported in the village of Nil'in where some protesters suffered from tear gas inhalation. In southern West Bank, one local organizer was injured in clashes in al-Ma'sara village near Bethlehem.

Last week, at least three people were also injured and seven others arrested in anti-wall protests in various West Bank communities.

Earlier this month, hundreds of Palestinians and foreign activists gathered at the Qalandia checkpoint north of Jerusalem to urge the international community to implement a International Court of Justice ruling to demolish the separation wall.

In 2004, the International Court of Justice ruled that the separation wall, which Israel began constructing in 2002, was illegal. Eighty-five percent of the wall runs through the West Bank annexing significant areas of Palestinian land.

Suicide bombings are illegal too and the wall has done a good job of preventing them. Until the Palestinians finally agree to make peace and sign a treaty to that effect, the wall should stay right where it is.

Send me a note when there is freedom in the PA controlled areas. Yesterday, in Gaza, a UN run summer camp for children was burnt down and an arab hotel/resort was ransacked. The people that did this were arabs. They did not agree with these activities. The police did not respond. Hamas has not responded.

The youtube clips of up market hotels don't make good press if you are trying to sell images of an impoverished Gaza like Hamas do. If the wall was taken down another wave of suicide bombers would follow as sure as night follows day and the activists would be nowhere to be seen.

Were these folks just "run of the mill, generic" Arabs or some particular kind of Arab?

It would seem they are the type of Arabs that don't like summer camps for children and/or resort hotels.
