NATO helicopter crashes in eastern Afghanistan, casualties unknown

2011-08-06 12:55:36 GMT+7 (ICT)

KABUL (BNO NEWS) -- A coalition helicopter crashed in eastern Afghanistan on early Saturday morning, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said.

ISAF confirmed a recovery operation is underway after one of its helicopters crashed in Wardak province, but gave no other details. "We are in the process of assessing the facts and will release more information as appropriate," a spokesperson said. "Reporting indicates there was enemy activity in the area."

Afghan officials said there were ISAF casualties, but the multinational force would not immediately confirm that.
