I have been reading the boards for a good 4 or 5 years now But for some reason my account for posting is missing. Anyways here i am

Just a quick summary so you can get the jist

My girlfriend and I met through my friend on Facebook 2 years ago. She had just returned from a year of student exchange from Khon kaen university to some university in Denver USA. We talked almost every day for about 6 months and we finally deiceded to meet up, but in Dubai, not Thailand. She organized a visa for Dubai through our hotel, the Hilton JBR. I was working in azerbaijan at the time and always took breaks to Dubai for some normality, which is why I thought it would be cool for us to meet there, plus her cousin works in the Thai embassy there so everything was ok. We had a week there

She went back to the USA again a few months later, until September 2010, where she did a 6 month internship with the ritz Carlton hotel in krabi. We always stayed in contact but during this period we drifted a bit as it had been a year since we'd seen each other. Until feburary 2011 when we started talking heavily again and decided top give it another go.

She at this time was finishing up her degre in Khon kaen university

We met up in Bangkok for a week in may and had an amazing time, and I knew after all this time she was the girl for me. and we fell in love again. We had another 2 weeks in Phuket in June, I stayed in her university complex for a week just last week, met her family and everything and now we're both in Bangkok again while she waits for her orientation and embassy interview. I am going to head over to Vietnam for 2 weeks to check out my new project (new job). Then come back to bangkok again for a few days and we'll be together until she flys out to Miami to her new internship and I fly back to London to prepare and start to mobilize for my new job

From September 2011 until October 2012 she will be working on the front desk of the Sheraton hotel in Miami, on some kind of intern visa. I am going to visit her there in end of oct/early nov, and the plan is she is going to come to London in december to visit my family and stay with us for Christmas, and new year we will stay in a hotel in central London. So she needs 2 weeks or so

It is out of the question that she will apply for the visit visa in Bangkok, as she's not in Thailand. And won't go back just for that. It would be ridiculous if that is the procedure

There is a UK consulate in Miami but I can't make head nor tale of it. And the embassy seems to be in DC.. That would mean a whole flight to hand in the documentation. That is again, Ridiculous

Can she apply for a UK visit visa from Miami. Her reason to return is her internship in Miami so there is no issue there. And we have all the funds to support and proof of our communications and vacations etc, so there would be absolutely no problem with that. She is 22 and I will be 27 next month

I didn't read the life history but basically a Thai national legally living in the US can make an online application for a visa for the UK.

You make an online payment for the visa application and for the return of the documents. and then make an appointment and go to an Application Support Centre, there is one in Miami and they are run by the US Citizen and Immigration Service, they will take the biometric details.

You then mail all the paper work to the UKBA in Washington.

I DID read the life history - good luck, it sounds you've met a really nice, hard working girl.

Having said that, if she is legally living in another country, you can apply in that other country as the oldgit says above!

Be warned though, coming from Thailand, visiting Dubai, working in Miami, is she REALLY going to want to go to the duldrums of the UK! :cheesy: OK guys, just kidding, please don't flame
